Meet Capital J
John S. Walsh
John S. Walsh started Capital J Advisors in 2003 to provide global income tax accounting services to private equity portfolio companies and SEC registrants. His founding intention was to combine accessible technical excellence while facilitating a streamlined conflict-free interaction between his client and their audit firm.
Over the course of his career, John has advised on complex domestic and international corporate income tax, with a specialized focus on financial accounting and reporting issues. As an advisor to large and middle market enterprises, John brings to bear extensive technical expertise related to US domestic, state, and global taxation considerations. He has counseled clients on the accounting, structuring and tax consequences of various corporate and partnership transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, initial public offerings and strategic exits.
John began his career at EY, where he was an integral member in the development and operation of the Technology, Communications and Entertainment practice. He has an MBA from The Wharton School, a BBA from the University of Notre Dame, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
James C. Walsh
James C. Walsh is a co-founder of Capital J Advisors. Over the course of his career, he has advised large-scale global private and public corporations on income tax accounting, financial reporting and disclosure issues.
James has extensive experience preparing and reviewing global income tax provisions for a variety of organizations. Such experience includes expertise in ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) and the complexities encountered by SEC registrants, portfolio companies of private equity sponsors and private companies transitioning to public ownership. In addition, he has advised numerous clients on the tax accounting requirements associated with large-scale M&A transactions, such as opening balance sheet accounting, valuation allowance analysis, share-based compensation and the many other technical issues faced immediately before and after a strategic transaction. James is an industry leader in the design, implementation and maintenance of high performing income tax accounting environments which facilitate accuracy and the efficient deployment of accounting resources.
James began his career at Arthur Andersen. He has an MBA from Columbia Business School, a BS from Lehigh University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
